Heat Trace Piping Systems
Insul-Pipe Systems offers a pre-insulated piping system complete with a heat trace tube for a variety of heat trace needs. The systems are comprised of a specified carrier pipe pre-insulated with polyurethane insulation and jacketing in either a HDPE, or FRP jacket. The system comes with a steel pipe attached to the carrier pipe either by welding in place or by strapping in place, that can then be used as the raceway to insert a heat trace wire.
The system features:
- Closed cell polyurethane insulation, offering the lowest available thermal conductivity and the best natural resistance to water penetration.
- Engineered coupling and fitting insulation kits providing the same level of moisture protection.
- This system can also be provided with prefabricated and pre-insulated fittings.

Sample Submittal Specifications
PIPING SYSTEM: Underground, pre-insulated hot water supply and return piping.
CARRIER PIPE: Steel ASTM A-53 Grade B, ERW Sch 40 thru 10 and standard wall for sizes 12 and larger; or Type K or L copper; or gasketed or solvent weld PVC; or Ductile Iron.
OUTER JACKET: Seamless, low pressure rated PVC or HDPE, or Fiberglass
INSULATION: Polyurethane, 2.5 PCF density, 90 to 95% closed cell, poured in place, K = .13 per inch @75 degrees F.
END SEALS: Factory applied, waterproof mastic covering the urethane insulation at each end of each joint of pipe and bonded both to the carrier pipe and the outer jacket. COUPLINGS: Coupling insulation kits are urethane components field mixed and poured into a PVC mold sealed to form a watertight seal.
FITTINGS: Fitting insulation kits are urethane components field mixed and poured into a PVC molded fitting cover then taped to form a watertight seal.
